Why I chose these pieces for February

Why I chose these pieces for February

One of my favorite parts of putting together Paper Bento is choosing what items to put in our box. Not just what looks nice together, but what I actually reach for in my own life, the tools that quietly support my thinking and creativity.

For February’s box, I wanted everything to feel calm, reliable, and easy to use. Nothing fussy. Nothing that gets in the way. These are pieces designed to help thoughts flow, whether you’re planning, journaling, or simply sitting down with a blank page.

Here’s why I chose each item in this month’s Paper Bento.

Mitsubishi Uni-ball Zento Black Gel Ink Pen (0.7mm)
This is my go-to pen when I’m writing on the go. It’s incredibly reliable and always writes smoothly. I love the clip because I can attach it directly to my notebook cover and know it’ll be there when I need it. The 0.7mm tip is what I naturally default to when I’m brain-dumping ideas or doing early brainstorming. It gives me enough boldness to move fast without feeling sloppy.

KINGJIM Hitotoki Note Ring Notebook (Passport Size)
I first noticed this notebook during my trip to Japan last fall, when I saw a woman at a Starbucks quietly scrapbooking and organizing her sticker collection. It felt so intentional and cozy. The passport size makes it a perfect on-the-go notebook, easy to carry and unintimidating to open. I also love the cover designs (and hope you do too). Beyond journaling, it’s often used to collect things like recipes, book or movie reviews, or small moments you want to remember.

KINGJIM Kitta Washi Tape Basic & Kitta Stamp Stickers
These are some of my favorite Kingjim products because they’re both functional and beautiful. The washi tape comes pre-cut, so you can use each piece like a sticker, no scissors needed. The stamp-style stickers immediately caught my eye. The artwork is incredibly detailed, and I honestly had a hard time choosing which designs to include because they were all so intricate and lovely.

KINGJIM Kori-Jirushi Stamp
Kori translates to "ice-cube" in Japanese. Just like an ice-cube, this stamp is transparent, so you can see exactly where you’re stamping. It’s transparent, so you can see exactly where you’re stamping, which makes placement feel intentional. It also received the Idea Award at the 文房具屋さん大賞 2025 / Stationery Shop Awards 2025, and for good reason. It’s one of those products where thoughtful and creative design genuinely improves the experience of using it.

Tsukineko Artnic Ink Pad (Cardinal or Evergreen)
I wanted an ink pad that felt rich but gentle. Tsukineko Artnic inks have a creamy, water-based texture that creates soft, even impressions on paper. The colors chosen for February feel grounded and seasonal, and they pair beautifully with both writing and decorative elements.

Every item in this box was chosen to work well on its own and even better together. My hope is that as you use them, you’ll notice the care behind each choice and find your own rhythm with them.

February’s Paper Bento is now sold out, but if you’d like to receive early access to future boxes and follow along as I curate what’s next, you can join the waitlist below.
