No Returns or Exchanges
We do not accept returns or exchanges on subscription boxes.
All monthly boxes are curated collections and cannot be returned or exchanged. By subscribing, you acknowledge that:
- Box contents are not customizable
- Items cannot be returned simply because you don't like them
- All sales are final once boxes are shipped
Cancellation Policy
Both subscription types can be canceled anytime with 14 days' notice. See below for details.
How to Cancel
Email hello@paperbento.store at least 14 days before the 5th of the month (by the 19th).
Example: To cancel your March 5th billing, email us by February 19th.
Monthly Subscriptions
- Cancel anytime with 14 days' notice
- Your subscription remains active until the end of your current billing period
- You'll continue to receive your box for the month you've already paid for
- No cancellation fees
6-Month Prepaid Subscriptions
- Cancel anytime with 14 days' notice
- Receive 80% refund on unused months
- Refund processed within 7-10 business days to original payment method
Refund Example:
You prepay $240 for 6 months. After 1 month, you cancel. You have 5 months remaining ($200 value). You'll receive $160 as a refund (80% of $200).
Why We Keep 20% on 6-Month Cancellations
The 6-month subscription offers a discounted rate to reward commitment to our community. When you prepay for 6 months, we allocate inventory and plan our operations based on your subscription.
If you cancel early, the 20% we retain reflects that:
- We've reserved your subscription spot in our inventory planning
- You've already benefited from the discounted rate for the months you've used
We believe this approach is fair—you still receive the majority of your prepayment back, and we can maintain sustainable operations for our community.
Damaged or Defective Items
While we don't accept returns, we stand behind the quality of our products. If any item in your monthly box arrives damaged, defective, or missing:
Please contact us within 7 days of delivery at hello@paperbento.store with:
- Your order number
- Photos of the damaged/defective item
- Description of the issue
We will replace the damaged or defective item at no cost to you, or offer a partial credit toward a future box for that specific item only.
Important: This quality guarantee does not constitute a return or refund policy. It applies only to items that arrive damaged, defective, or missing—not to items you simply don't like or want.
Non-Delivery or Shipping Issues
Package Never Arrives
If your package never arrives (after 14 days from ship date), is lost by the carrier, or shows no tracking movement for 7+ days, contact us immediately at hello@paperbento.store.
We will:
- Investigate with the carrier
- File a claim if necessary
- Send a replacement box (if inventory available)
Note: Delayed delivery does not entitle you to a refund, but we will ensure you receive your boxes.
Stolen Packages
We are not responsible for packages marked as "delivered" by the carrier and subsequently stolen.
Please:
- Check with neighbors, household members, or building management
- File a police report if theft is suspected
- Contact your home insurance for possible coverage
We recommend using a secure delivery location or requesting signature confirmation (contact us before your box ships to arrange this).
Wrong Shipping Address
If you provide an incorrect shipping address and your package is delivered to that address, we cannot offer a refund or replacement.
Your responsibility:
- Verify your shipping address carefully before subscribing
- Update your address in your account settings if you move
- Contact us before your box ships each month if you need to change your address
Subscription Management
Failed Payments (Monthly Subscriptions)
If a monthly payment fails:
- You will receive an email with instructions to update your payment method
- Your subscription will resume once payment is processed
Failed payments do not automatically cancel your subscription. If you wish to cancel, follow the cancellation procedures above.
Moving or Address Changes
If you move during your subscription:
- Log into your account to update your shipping address
- Update your address before your box ships each month
- Contact us at hello@paperbento.store if you need assistance
Your subscription continues even if you move. It is your responsibility to keep your address current. If you need to cancel, follow the cancellation procedures above.
What's Not Covered
This policy does NOT provide refunds or cancellation exceptions for:
- Personal preference (not liking items in your box)
- Duplicate items (if you already own similar products)
- Change of mind after subscribing
- Financial hardship or inability to pay
- Moving to a location where we cannot ship
- Simply not wanting the subscription anymore
However, you can cancel your subscription at any time using the procedures outlined above.
Customer Responsibilities
By subscribing, you agree to:
- Maintain accurate shipping information
- Make timely monthly payments (for monthly subscriptions)
- Inspect packages upon arrival and report issues within 7 days
- Follow proper cancellation procedures if you wish to end your subscription
Exceptions
We reserve the right to make exceptions to this policy on a case-by-case basis at our sole discretion. These exceptions are rare and are not guaranteed.
Possible exception scenarios (evaluated individually):
- Extended hospitalization or medical emergencies
- Documented shipping issues caused by Paper Bento
- Significant product quality issues affecting multiple items
