A box full of my love for Japanese stationery.
This is our very first Holiday Gift Box. It’s a one-time box, separate from the monthly subscription. Give it to the stationery lover in your life, or keep it for yourself. I think both are wonderful reasons.
Every piece comes from a brand I love. Here’s what’s inside.
What’s in the box (7 pieces)
SAILOR TUZU ADJUST Fountain Pen (Medium Nib)
The heart of the box. The smooth steel nib glides across the page with very little pressure. You can loosen the grip and turn it to fit the way you hold a pen. It comes with ink cartridges and a converter already installed, so you can write the day it arrives. Each box includes one of two limited edition colors, Crystal Sky (blue) or Crystal Cherry (pink). I pick the color at random, so it’s a little surprise.
SAILOR Shikiori Ink in Shimoyo (霜夜)
Shimoyo means “frosty winter night.” It’s a deep blue that sits close to black. It feels wintery right now, and it works for notes, letters, and journaling all through next year. Once you finish the cartridges, use the converter to fill your TUZU straight from this bottle.
Pansy Daisy L’après-midi Kyoto Travel Journal
The cover shows the Yasaka Pagoda with two maiko walking past. Inside, illustrations of Kyoto scenes fill the pages. This design is hard to find in the US. Use it for travel notes, a daily journal, or the things you want to remember.
Oeda Letterpress Memo Pad Book
Two designers in Osaka make everything by hand in small batches. Letterpress presses the design into the paper, so you can feel it under your fingertips. Every sheet comes out a little different from the last.
Oeda Letterpress Stamp Sticker Sheet
Numbers in a stamp design, in dark blue or bronze. I pick one at random for each box. Use them to mark the months in your journal as you head into the new year. The sheet isn’t pre-cut, so you decide the size and shape of each sticker.
Hyogensha Japan Block Memo
Playful illustrations by Ai Okino of Mt. Fuji, the Shinkansen, Tokyo Tower, sakura, maneki-neko, and more. Four patterns for grocery lists, quick notes, or a message tucked inside a gift.
Seitousha Block Memo “Picture Diary”
Its Japanese name is Enikki (絵日記), the kind of diary where you draw a little picture of your day. Tokyo designer Sei Yamamoto starts every design as a hand drawing. 100 sheets for notes, to-do lists, or a small moment you want to keep.
